Mission Statement

The Weddington Elementary School community collaborates to promote a strong foundation for our students to become lifelong learners, independent thinkers, self-motivators, and effective decision makers. Students will achieve their fullest potential in a nurturing atmosphere of consistency, encouragement, and security. A variety of strategies, differentiated instruction, remediation, and intervention will be utilized to deliver the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Progress will be monitored and data will be used to drive instruction so that each child will experience success.

Message From the Superintendent

2009-2010 Cluster Forums
In an effort to reach out to school/community stakeholders and engage in some proactive dialogue, I will be conducting a series of Cluster Forums during the 2009-2010 school year. These forums will be held at each cluster's high school media center on the last Thursday of the month (except in November and December due to holidays). See Forum Schedule below.

Each principal has been asked to identify two parent leaders to represent the school and community to be active participants in constructive discussions on how we can improve the school system and provide greater opportunities for students. Designated School Board members will also be participants in the discussions.

All other interested parties are invited to attend the Cluster Forums as observers.

Celebrations!

The media center has a special service, Celebrations!, available for your use.  The purpose of Celebrations! is two-fold.  It enables a parent, grandparent, etc. to recognize a special occasion or achievement (birthday, A-Honor Roll, Spelling Bee winner, etc.) and also helps the media center book collection to grow.

You may choose from selected titles that are on display in the media center to honor your special student (or teacher!).  With the purchase of a book for the media center ($15.00 each) a book plate with the appropriate inscription will be placed inside the front cover.  The book will then be added to the media center collection with your student being the first to check it out!

If you would like to participate in Celebrations! or need information concerning the program, please contact the media center.

Volunteer Policy

SEND IN YOUR USED INK CARTRIDGES

The PTA is collecting all used ink cartridges.  There is a box to deposit them in the PTA hallway next to the Box tops collection box.  David Aiello of CARTRIDGE WORLD is picking up and recycling the cartridges.  The PTA will receive money for all of the cartridges collected.  You can also purchase your cartridges from CARTRIDGE WORLD and the school will receive a percentage back!  All types of cartridges are accepted.  Please collect from friends, neighbors and your workplace!  The more we collect, the more money we will receive.

The PTA would like to thank Janice Bowers for coordinating this collection. The office staff always goes "above and beyond" for us and we do appreciate them.
