Fifth Grade Tours Historic Old Salem
Students experienced games played by Moravian children.

On March 19th, 5th grade students visited the historic Old Salem in Winston Salem, NC. Students spend the day walking the historic town of Salem touring houses that date back to the mid 1700's.

Founded in 1766 by the Moravians, the restored town of Salem offers a vision of what life was like for early Americans. Fifth Graders toured houses, The Old Salem Toy Museum, and a church with original and restored furniture. Classes visited a hotel once occupied by President George Washington. Students were able to play games played by Moravian children and learn about the types of jobs the people of this time period worked.
